The Intriduction of The Tamburica Group “Kašarji”

 

The Tamburica Group “Kašarji has been founded in February 1991 in cultural association Dr. France Prešeren, Breznica – Žirovnica. We began our carier with learning of all notes and getting to know to play all the instruments. We started to practice and it has taken a plenty of effort, persistence and discipline. After 4 months of hard working we were able to play one song and we played it with such a joy… it was magnificent. The next year we learned more and soon we had a one-long list of all kinds of songs. We have cooperated with different kinds of music groups, choirs…


In such a short period of time we already played in Austria, Germany, Italy and also in USA and Greece. These are two festivals we are most proud of. Of course, we have also had a lot of performances is Slovenia. In 2003 we bought new instruments that have better sound and more different possibilities of playing. The particularity of our group is also singing, that makes our program even more interested and enriched. We would also like to mention our appearance in “Alpe evening” and regularly co-operation with Gorenjska TV which has a very interesting entertaining music program for all occations.

 
We edited our first CD called “Ne bom podplatov šparov”. We have also taken part in a lot of tamburica competitions in our region every year. In years 2002 and 2003 we won a silver medal on the national festival of tamburica and mandoline groups. In October 2004 we took part in international competition in Serbia, Starčevo, where we got a very good estimation for playing and singing, and we have been invited to come again next year. We impressed them with our music program and special clothing. Our costumes present a piece of our national culture and history. We are dressed in special clothes from Gorenjska  region and these clothes are copies of the original clothing from 19. century.

 
In cooperation with TriglavNational Park we prepared our second CD called “Karavanški fen” on which you can find all sorts of our national music and also some songs from Dalmatia. Our repertoar contains songs from all regions of Slovenia. They are a mixture of a modern and popular interpretation. As mentioned we also play songs from Dalmatia, classical and modern music, so that we can impress people of all age – young and young in their hearts.

 
In 2008 we were the first group from Slovenia, who participated in The First World Tamburica Festival in Serbia. In season 2008/2009 we celebrate our 10 years of playing together. We will have 4 mayor concerts in our cultural association.
